This show has been on my bucket list to be involved with since I first saw it when I was living in NYC and would use my outdated student ID to snag a $25 ticket to the show. Two years later, I am beyond grateful and humble to have the majority of this original cast and design team united to finally rock it out. I had no idea, when we finally got the green light for production to begin again, who from the original company would be available or have interest in still doing the show still. This show continued to get postponed as the company of actors, designers and musicians awaited confirmation of new dates. Since the set for the show was already designed and could be built safely, the scene shop completed the build and stored the set as we all waited to find out when the show would be rescheduled to open. We were the first industry to be shut down, and we would be the last to recover. Reality set in, and many of us in the live entertainment profession grappled with trying to figure out what to do, as our careers that defined so much of our identity ceased to exist. By April 2020 we had moved casting the show to virtual auditions, as we held out hope to find a way to still open up in September 2020.
